Enjoy the Autumn Leaf Festival with the Black Series
The colorful autumn landscape of New England has become a legend. Early September is definitely the time when various autumn views can be seen. It is cool and sunny today, perfect weather for a family trip. The Black Series HQ21 is our first choice for shelter and food supplies. We choose it because of its excellent off-road performance, all-terrain passability and durability for travel. It allows us to travel without a campsite, go deeper into nature and appreciate the views close-up.
Travel is on after my wife has packed clothes and prepared food. We first arrive at Lake Candlewood, the largest in Connecticut. We’re deeply impressed by its beautiful lakescape. We park the RV in a clearing nearby and stroll in the Squantz Pond State Park on the west bank of the lake. The leaves along the way are turning yellow, and the reflections of the tall trees are mesmerizing on the green lake surface. A stroll along the forest trail in the autumn breeze is the perfect way to experience the wonders of seasonal changes. We decide to stay by the lake for one night. The fatigue from walking completely disappears with a hot shower. The instant water heater that comes with the Black series HQ21 makes it possible to have such refreshing hot showers outdoors. Its oversized water tank solves the problem of water supply when camping away from any campsite. We then drive the pickup to White Silo Farm Winery where rows of vines lie quietly on the hillside in the vineyard. We buy a few bottles of special wine made from grapes grown on local farms, then return to the RV to spread the awning. We prepare tables and chairs. My wife sets up the outside kitchen of the RV to cook dinner. The delicious steak cooked over a fierce fire is a perfect match for the unique wine. Then we enjoy a hearty meal while appreciating the majestic views.
It is our habit to drink a cup of coffee early in the morning every day. Fortunately, the HQ21 has its own coffee machine. Today we’re heading to Kent, which has been voted the best viewpoint in New England. Beside the Housatonic River, the Litchfield Hills are surrounded by dense woods. We hike up the steep Cobble Mountain. Along the way, we are impressed by the colourful autumn views of the Taconic and Catskill Mountains. From Kent, the 15-mile road section along US7 to Housatonic Meadows State Park is the best place to see the views in Connecticut. Driving through dense woods, we hear waterfalls roaring and see rivers meandering. Every sight here is so mind-blowing.
We choose Housatonic Meadows State Park as our second campsite because of its serene lake. It is perfect for fishing. As a fishing enthusiast, this place can’t be missed. Thanks to the storage space of the Black series HQ21, my wife no longer complains about my favourite fishing rods taking up too much space. The park also has the West Cornwall Covered Bridge, a waterfall that my wife, a photographer, loves. It looks magnificent from every angle. Today we have a hearty meal. My wife cooks the most delicious fried fish and serves it with vegetable salad. At night, it’s getting colder by the river. We move the food to the U-shaped sofa booth area in the trailer where we can see the breathtaking views outside through the three-sided windows. Talking about how much fun we’ve had fishing today, we enjoy every bite of our food. With the soft cozy sofa, homey lights and gentle music, the caravan feels a lot like a fancy restaurant. Lying in the bedroom, we can see the night sky lit up by numerous stars. What we see in the bedroom is no different from outdoors. Listening to the sound of the flowing river, we’re immersed in a sea of thoughts. I feel very lucky to have chosen this Black Series HQ21 because it’s brought us so much fun on camping trips. Its various amenities allow us to enjoy a comfortable and convenient outdoors life like a vacation.
